Tobermory Holiday House Reviews from Back Brae Lodge Guests
“We very much enjoyed our stay.
The apartment is fabulous - very clean, tidy and as described. The selection of DVDs, books etc was very much appreciated on wet afternoons, and the guidance provided on walks and other activities was immensely helpful when the rain stopped. We recommend Back Brae Lodge wholeheartedly. Thank you!”
“We have had a wonderful time.
Thanks so much for everything. How time flies when you're having fun! We loved the location - so quiet and tucked away but so handy for everything - and the spaciousness - we danced in the back room! We also loved the fast enough WiFi and big TV with satellite channels, and lots of plug sockets everywhere. All the gadgets worked well too. The bed was comfy and the shower was nice. We loved the space downstairs to take off muddy boots and jackets and stuff. The drying rack was great. We appreciated the whisky miniatures and welcome tray and also dishwasher and washing machine supplies. It was helpful to have such clear instructions everywhere too. We loved staying here and hope to be back! Thanks again for being so accessible and for all your help.”
“Just arrived home after a long journey
but well worth it, we had such a great time. There is nothing at all I can think of that you need to improve (I did joke that there were no champagne flutes for my fizzy wine, but that was as mean as I could get!). We always stay in self catering accommodation and rarely do we find somewhere as good as this. Your housekeeper is a gem, the place was absolutely spotless. The rooms are better than the photos and the living and kitchen area is great, I have never stayed anywhere so comprehensively equipped. The location is fabulous, right by the Main Street and shops, eating places and attractions, but incredibly secluded and peaceful. We found it easily and never had trouble parking. We had such a wonderful time and cannot recommend Mull, and in particular Back Brae Lodge, highly enough. Once again thanks for being the key to a super holiday. When we return to Mull I would not consider staying anywhere else and will certainly recommend you to my friends.”
“We have had a lovely stay
in your very comfortable and well-situated cottage, and have enjoyed exploring North Mull. ”
Cannot fault any aspect of the accommodation, or Tobermory and Mull.”
“We had a wonderful stay at Back Brae Lodge.
It's a lovely, clean, comfortable and welcoming house. It contains all you need to have an enjoyable and very comfortable stay. The books and beautiful artworks add a warm atmosphere. We love Tobermory - such an amazing place. Isle of Mull is full of beauty. We will be sad to be leaving Back Brae Lodge and Isle of Mull. We have had the most brilliant week here.”
“Well equipped house.
We have had a fantastic week here in Tobermory.”
“Thank you for a fab stay.
“We had a wonderful few days on the Isle of Mull
and would highly recommend Back Brae Lodge, Tobermory as a place to stay. The cottage is in a great location and we thought it spacious, comfortable, well-equipped and very clean. Excellent self-catering accommodation.”
“Enjoyed our stay.
Will recommend Back Brae Lodge to friends.”
Mull & Tobermory Restaurant & Activity Reviews
“We thought the array of shops and eateries in Tobermory were excellent.
The Fish and Chip van on the harbour supplied a tasty meal for us on our first night, and Café Fish (which we booked the night before) provided an outstandingly good meal on the Saturday evening; we would warmly recommend both. The Tobermory Chocolatier and the Deli on Main Street won top marks for snacks. The kids (teenagers) voted our trips to Iona and Calgary beach as highlights of their stay, and we also had a good night out at the Mull Theatre just a mile or two up the road.”
“Tobermory is very pretty and we just enjoyed walking around the island.
Would recommend the walk to Aros Park in particular, and we walked to Calgary Bay via the Bellachroy Hotel for lunch which was good. The Tobermory Distillery tour was also good and the Isle of Mull cheese farm shop. We ate in Cafe Fish two nights and it was absolutely delicious. Would also recommend the fresh rolls in the bakery - it's the only place you can buy bottles of Mull ale as well.”
“We are big foodies and find the Mishnish restaurant ‘5 Star’.
I would recommend that to anyone.”
“It would be fair to say we knew we were visiting in a period beyond ‘off-season’
and more like 'close season'. We were therefore very pleasantly surprised to find most places still open and we enjoyed eating out. If I was to recommend one place, I would insist every visitor tries to get a table at Cafe Fish. Food, atmosphere, staff - all perfect.”
“We went to Café Fish twice it was so good.
Mull is fantastic.”
“Particularly enjoyed a great film in the An Tobar Arts Centre
on the Tobermory Otter - delightful - and eating in the Golden Dragon Thai on the harbour, and from the Les Routiers Chippy! Perhaps our favourite drive was the scenic road down to Iona, going along Loch na Keal at about 8am at slackwater in the morning sun and paddling on the shell beach at northeast Iona with a view of Staffa.”
“Being familiar with Tobermory
we knew what to expect of the Mishnish Hotel and McGochan's, but I think it's worth pointing out the excellent value for money for food at the MacDonald Arms. We had dinner at the Galleon Grill and were really impressed both with the food and the atmosphere. The other surprise was Am Birlinn at Penmore, Dervaig, which was excellent.”
“We only cooked breakfast
as the choice to eat out in Tobermory is great. There are plenty of local walks to do, plus the whole island is easily accessible to explore. We booked a wildlife trip with Arthur and Pam Brown and this was fantastic.”
“We loved Cafe Fish opposite the RNLI
on the end of the quay, and would give them a strong recommendation to your other guests - but you must book as it is not very big.”
“One of the benefits of living so close to the town
was the range of restaurants within a short distance. We particularly enjoyed the fish and chip van, the seafood place above the ferry terminal, and the Mull Pottery café. Our best trip of the week was taking the ferry from Ulva to see the puffins and Fingal's Cave. It was a magical experience but worth waiting for a fine day weatherwise. Another good trip out is a wildlife tour with Mull Magic, as they take you to explore areas you might not find on your own, and they are both very knowledgeable - especially about birds.”
